According to the Metropolitan Police, at 5:11 a.m. on Sunday, officers and paramedics were dispatched to Barking Road in Newham in response to reports of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 33-year-old male was taken into custody at Heathrow Airport at 3:30 p.m. on suspicion of murder.
They both remain in detention after a 30-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of aiding an offender.
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke stated: “My thoughts are with the victim’s family at what will be an extremely difficult time for them.”
Our family liaison officers will assist them while we carry out more investigation.
“I know that a lot of people spent the night at an event in Barking Road, and a lot of them would have seen the occurrence. I’m pleading with those individuals to come forward right now. Your knowledge could be extremely important to the inquiry.
“Forensic collision investigators have worked at the scene throughout the day and, although we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider community, officers will remain in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance.”
