The Houthi militia, supported by Iran, has claimed responsibility for an attempted drone strike on Israel on Tuesday as well as a missile attack on a container ship headed for Pakistan in the Red Sea.

According to MSC Mediterranean Shipping, the attack on its ship, the United VIII, when it was sailing from King Abdullah Port, Saudi Arabia to Karachi, did not injure any members of the crew.

It claimed that the ship had made evasive maneuvers after alerting a neighboring coalition naval force to an attack.

Separately, Israel declared that one of its planes had successfully intercepted a hostile aerial target near the Red Sea.

The Houthi militia, supported by Iran, has claimed responsibility for an attempted drone strike on Israel on Tuesday as well as a missile attack on a container ship headed for Pakistan in the Red Sea.

Separately, Israel declared that one of its planes had successfully intercepted a hostile aerial target near the Red Sea.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Authority in Britain had earlier reported two explosion occurrences involving missiles and drones close to a vessel in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen. It said that no injuries had been reported.

The incidents that have been recorded occur one week after the United States declared a global maritime security strategy in the Red Sea in reaction to Houthi attacks on Yemeni vessels.

In reaction to the attacks, a number of shipping companies have stopped using the Red Sea canal and are now traveling the longer route around Africa.

The Houthis have threatened to attack US warships if the militia group itself is targeted, and they have pledged to keep up their attacks until Israel ends the fighting in Gaza.

Two explosions involving missiles and drones close to a vessel occurred in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen, according to reports previously released by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Authority. Moreover, it stated that no injuries had been reported.

A week ago, in reaction to Houthi attacks on vessels in Yemen, the United States declared the launch of a global maritime security program in the Red Sea.

In reaction to the attacks, a number of shipping companies have ceased operations via the Red Sea waterway and are opting to travel around Africa, which is a longer route.

With a vow to keep attacking until Israel ends the crisis in Gaza, the Houthis also threatened to attack US warships in the event that the militia group itself was attacked.
