When a portion of the building fell on Sunday, a group of women at a resort in Thailand were seen on camera posing for pictures on a second-floor balcony before falling to the ground.
On the balcony of the Rommai Reunngam Resort in Chiang Mai, twelve tourists—all of them women volunteers at a nearby public health office—were taking pictures of the garden, according to Viral Press.
The women fell to the ground as the piece of the concrete balcony they were standing on gave way beneath their weight.
“Nobody knew that the balcony was not strong enough,” an employee of the hotel informed the publication. “Lots of people take selfies there, because there is a nice view of the garden.”

After being summoned, paramedics transported the hurt woman to a hospital.
According to officials who spoke with the source, two of the women had fractures, two more had head injuries, and the other members had scrapes and bruises.
Chalit Thipkhamlater, the chief of Hang Dong District, stated that the bolts used to build the balcony’s addition were insufficiently sturdy to support the group’s weight.

Chalit stated, “The balcony was built in line with the approved construction plans,” the site reported. “However, the owner added an extension, which was fastened with bolts, without proper authorization.”
