Pakistan captain Abbas Afridi delivered a record-breaking performance at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, smashing six consecutive sixes in a single over to guide his team to a thrilling win against Kuwait. Afridi remained unbeaten on 55 runs off just 12 balls, including eight sixes, helping Pakistan chase down Kuwait’s total of 123 with the final ball, winning by four wickets.
Shahid Aziz played a crucial supporting role, scoring 23 not out off five balls, ensuring Pakistan sealed the victory in style.
Earlier, Kuwait had set a competitive target with a strong start from opener Adnan Idrees, who struck 17 runs off eight balls, including two sixes, before Afridi dismissed him in the second over. Bilal Tahir counterattacked with back-to-back sixes, taking the score to 35-1.
Mohammad Shahzad then conceded 31 runs in his third over as Meet Bhavsar’s aggressive batting pushed Kuwait past 50 for the loss of just one wicket. Abdul Samad gave away 22 runs in the fourth over, while Bhavsar hit three sixes and a four to bring Kuwait to 88-1.
Maaz Sadaqat later dismissed Bilal Tahir for 24 off six balls, but Usman Patel and Bhavsar kept the scoreboard ticking, taking Kuwait past 100 in the fifth over. Afridi’s final over went for 39 runs, including two sixes and a four from Patel, setting the stage for Pakistan’s dramatic chase.
