On Tuesday, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raised worries over President Arif Alvi’s conduct, claiming that he will face parallel judicial processes for “breaching constitutional mandates.”

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Bilawal stated that one case involves the President’s controversial decision to dissolve the assembly amid a no-confidence motion, while the other concerns his failure to convene the National Assembly session as required by the constitution.

“President Arif Alvi’s actions constitute a flagrant disregard for constitutional obligations,” argued Bilawal Bhutto. “If the President neglects his duties, it is the Speaker’s responsibility to maintain constitutional integrity. “The presidency transcends the individual who holds it.”

Bilawal Bhutto criticized the idea of impeachment, arguing that a new president should be elected through the established electoral procedure.

“The constitution mandates a National Assembly session on February 29 under any circumstance,” he went on to say.

Bhutto emphasized the importance of political reconciliation and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) participation in the Asif Zardari-led process. He emphasized the importance of correcting historical injustices, highlighting the upcoming Bhutto reference decision as a critical step toward resolution.

“Politicians must prioritise mutual respect and cooperation,” Bilawal Bhutto said, warning against eroding democratic institutions. “Failure to uphold mutual respect will perpetuate the cycle of discord for generations.”

Reflecting on political methods, Bhutto justified his party’s decision to form political partnerships despite lacking a governing mandate. “We chose stability over indifference,” he stated, recognizing the economic and democratic consequences of political instability.

Addressing worries about alliances Bilawal Bhutto maintained that pragmatic decisions were made in the interest of the populace. He credited the Sunni alliance for their cooperation, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in addressing societal challenges.

Assessing provincial performance, Bhutto lauded Sindh’s resilience in the face of adversity, particularly highlighting the educational sector’s response to natural disasters. Criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) approach, he urged humility in acknowledging mistakes and reiterated his commitment to constitutional principles
