Sher Afzal Marwat, a senior leader and member for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated on Sunday that corruption was widespread in his party’s former government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
During a live session on X Spaces, he claimed: “In the previous government of the PTI, people became trillionaires [via corruption].”
In response to a question, the PTI leader stated that he did not advocate detaining former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail rather than at his mansion in Bani Gala.
“Former KP chief minister Mahmood Khan earns Rs2.5 million daily from one of his mines now,” he told reporters.
Marwat is still in the spotlight due to his forthright and controversial remarks.
Last week, he stated that his party was bearing the consequences of two poor judgments. The MNA stated on Geo News’ “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath” that the first mistake was made when Imran directed a political alliance with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Sherani faction.
The JUI-Shirani and the PTI were unable to form an electoral alliance after failing to reach an agreement on seat adjustments for the February 8 general elections.
He went on to say that forming an alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) was their second significant blunder, and that the former ruling party had lost 80 seats as a result of poor judgments.
