This year, Shirley MacLaine celebrates a significant professional milestone and is making a comeback to the big screen.
The 89-year-old actress is appearing in the dark comedy “American Dreamer,” which debuted in theaters on Friday in advance of the 96th Academy Awards, opposite Peter Dinklage. Following four prior nominations, MacLaine’s performance in 1983’s “Terms of Endearment” brought her her first Oscar for best actress forty years ago.
Billy Bush on Extra recently spoke with MacLaine, who made her acting debut in 1955, and she expressed her continued enthusiasm for her work as much as she did when she first entered the entertainment field. But MacLaine revealed that the emergence of streaming services has had a big impact on Hollywood over time.
According to Shirley MacLaine, Hollywood is “100% different” now. “I fear the glamour is gone from it.”
