A guy in his mid-20s was detained on suspicion of harassment and violating the Online Safety Act on Wednesday in Islington, north London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Not too long after, the police notified several victims.
Earlier this year, individuals identifying themselves as “Charlie” or “Abi” sent amorous, unsolicited WhatsApp messages to at least 12 men in the political sphere, according to Scotland Yard.
In certain cases, explicit photos were sent.
According to news reports, the Labour Party suspended the individual from the organization as soon as it learned he had been arrested.

According to a spokesman for the Met Police, “police executed a warrant at an Islington address on Wednesday, June 26.”
A guy was taken into custody on charges of violating the Online Safety Act and harassing others. After being taken into custody, he is still there.
Following reports of unsolicited texts received to MPs and others, the Met’s parliamentary liaison and investigative division launched an inquiry into which the arrest is related.
It is believed that the individual who was arrested is in his mid-20s.
