With assistance from the Special Investment Facilitation Council, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted $320 million for road reconstruction in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan (SIFC). The purpose of this grant is to provide secure, continuous connectivity to rural regions that have recently experienced flooding.
Around 900 kilometers of rural roads in the province that have been damaged by flooding will be upgraded as part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Roads Development Project. The project combines practical methods with climate-resilient designs to build long-lasting roads.
In addition to rebuilding, the project will give the government financial and technical support for creating long-term sustainable alternatives. It is anticipated that this strategy will improve the province’s road network’s overall resilience.
Millions of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to save time and money on transportation as a result of the rehabilitation project, perhaps opening up new economic opportunities. The project also intends to locate and sustainably reconstruct roads throughout the province that have been damaged by landslides.
