KABUL: Afghanistan has highlighted the importance of preserving relations with Pakistan, stating that good relations with all of its neighbours are essential, according to The News.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Afghan government’s spokesperson, has encouraged Pakistan’s new government to be flexible in its approach to deporting Afghan refugees.
“First, the Islamic Emirate has always desired positive relations with all of its neighbors, including Pakistan, where a new government has emerged. Afghanistan also requires strong relations with Pakistan.
“We want Pakistan to make good progress in various sectors with Afghanistan and ask the future government to solve all its problems,” the spokesperson went on to say.
Last year, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s interim administration announced plans to deport 1.1 million foreigners illegally residing in Pakistan.
Afghanistan’s Acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund also called for a stop to what he described as the “cruel attitude of the Pakistan government authorities” toward Afghan refugees, claiming that such measures exacerbated rather than solved problems.
“We ask migrants to be adaptable. They have been hosting migrants for many years, and now they should examine Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan till the migrants return,” Mujahid added.
He also urged Pakistan to focus on a variety of issues, including developing partnerships, tackling Afghan commercial challenges, and Durand Line issues.
