It was the eighth men’s Test match in history to be called off without a ball being played, and it was taking place in the Indian city of Greater Noida.
Days three, four, and five were all canceled due to nighttime rain, which culminated in the five days of persistent rain that caused the abandonment.
Additionally, it’s the first time that a men’s Test in India has been totally ruined.
The last time that a men’s Test match was called off without a ball being bowled was when New Zealand played India in Dunedin in 1998.
Later this month, the Black Caps will travel to Sri Lanka for a two-test series before playing three tests in India.
