According to a statement issued following their meeting in Moscow, Afghanistan’s neighbors in the region seemed to band together against US President Donald Trump’s declared goal of seizing control of the Bagram military post close to Kabul.
India and Pakistan participated in the seventh “Moscow Format” meeting on Afghanistan, which was hosted by Russia and was attended for the first time by the foreign minister of the Taliban government.
Along with Central Asian countries, the ten countries also included China, Iran, and Russia.
The ten nations appeared to criticize Trump’s plan for the facility and support the Taliban’s stance on the matter in a joint statement issued by Russia’s foreign ministry late on Tuesday. The statement did not specifically mention the US or Bagram.
