At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, police were summoned to the South West industrial estate in Shotton, close to Peterlee.
At the scene, a man in his 40s was declared deceased.
The police are looking for anyone who has dash cam footage of what happened before the tragic event that turned deadly.
They declared that investigations are ongoing and that they are considering the death as unexpected.
Based at Shotton Airfield, Sky-High Skydiving confirmed to the News that British Skydiving was conducting an investigation into the fatal event.
“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A19 from around 12.20 to 12.30 who may have mobile phone or dashcam footage that captures the moments leading up to the incident,” stated detective chief inspector Mel Sutherland, who is in charge of the investigation.
