PESHAWAR: Following the Bannu jirga’s demands, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has alluded to calling a meeting of the province Apex Committee, the highest security body, within the next two days.
Days after gunfire on the Bannu ‘peace march’ left one person dead and numerous others injured, sources told Geo News in the early hours of Tuesday that the chief minister would present the jirga’s requests before the highest body.
According to the sources, the jirga delegation has criticized the federal government’s anti-terrorism program, “Azm-e-Istehkam,” and presented Gandapur with a 10-point agenda at a meeting at the CM House.According to those with knowledge of the conference, the jirga aimed to disband armed organizations, give police more authority and guarantee their nighttime patrols, give CTD the authority to carry out search operations or take action against terrorists in place of security personnel, and bring missing people before courts.
Journalists were informed by Jirga head Nasir Khan that the KP chief minister had listened to all of their demands and that the Bannu sit-in would go on despite the most recent violent incident.
“On Friday, Ali Amin Gandapur will travel to Bannu. Additionally, the chief minister declared that he will convene a meeting of the Apex Committee. The Apex Committee meeting will be attended by five jirga members.”
