ISLAMABAD The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has finally withdrew its explosive report that pointed to anomalies in federal accounts totaling Rs375 trillion (Rs375,000 billions), which is more than 27 times Pakistan’s yearly budget. This is a surprising reversal.
The AGP has since released an updated version, acknowledging that “typos” in the previous edition caused the numbers to be exaggerated to an unprecedented degree.
A few days ago, the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan posted the latest report, titled “Consolidated Audit Report of Federal Government for the Audit Year 2024-25,” on its official website.
It admits: “There were a few mistakes in the executive summary of the Consolidated Audit Report’s initial version that was posted on the DAGP website.
