Pakistan’s top professional golfer, Ahmed Ali Baig, has successfully advanced to the final rounds of the Singapore Open, showing impressive form at the Tanah Merah Country Club.
Baig, 26, from Lahore, posted rounds of 68 and 71, finishing the first two days at five-under-par (137), comfortably surpassing the cut set at four-under-par. His consistent play has him tied for 50th heading into the third round.
The tournament began with a stellar opening round, where Baig shot four-under 68. He displayed sharp precision, hitting 16 greens in regulation and sinking only 32 putts, remaining bogey-free on the front nine.
In the second round, Baig overcame a slow start, dropping bogeys on holes 1 and 3, but bounced back on the back nine with birdies on holes 13 and 17. He ended the day one-under 71, hitting 12 greens in regulation and improving his putting with just 30 strokes.
At the top of the leaderboard, Korea’s Soomin Lee leads at 12-under-par, with a tight group including John Catlin, James Piot, and Jeunghun Wang at ten-under.
Baig’s steady performance keeps Pakistan’s hopes alive as the tournament progresses.
