The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been instructed by Federal Minister of Privatization and Investment Board and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, to convert the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway into a barrier-free thoroughfare.

The Sialkot-Rawalpindi Motorway was upgraded from four lanes to six lanes during a high-level meeting presided over by Minister Abdul Aleem Khan. The focus was on coordinating infrastructure projects with long-term national needs rather than just immediate demands.
Minister Khan emphasized the strategic significance of highways and motorways as national assets and the imperative nature of building roads that will not only meet urgent transportation demands but also yield long-term economic advantages.
Moreover, Balochistan discussed the ongoing efforts to improve connectivity throughout the province, including the phased completion of the N25 highway at an estimated cost of Rs150 billion. Minister Khan showed initiative in addressing regional infrastructure problems by giving the NHA instructions to communicate with the Gilgit-Baltistan administration on relevant concerns affecting existing projects.
Directives to install live surveillance cameras on roads and building sites, integrate all projects into the Kodish Board for expedited reporting to the Prime Minister, and conduct independent assessments of highway maintenance projects to guarantee quality and accountability were also issued during the meeting.
