The Imran-founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which emerged as a prominent party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the nationwide polls on February 8, has nominated Ali Amin Gandapur, its firebrand stalwart, for the position of chief minister.
Gandapur was born in 1978 into a Dera Ismail Khan family with military and political ties. His father, the late Major (retd) Aminullah Gandapur, was a caretaker cabinet member under General Pervez Musharraf’s dictatorial regime.
He began his political career in 2007 with the Imran-founded party, rising to the position of regional president of the party’s south KP chapter following the 2013 intra-party elections.
