In an attempt to persuade him, former president Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), on Tuesday. This comes amid escalating tensions between the government and opposition over planned constitutional revisions that would focus primarily on the judiciary.
News was informed by sources that Alvi, the former president, and Salman Akram Raja, the secretary general of the PTI, had discussions with Fazl regarding political developments and suggested constitutional amendments.
At the meeting were leaders of the JUI-F, Maulana Ataul Haq Darvesh, Akhunzada Hussain, Maulana Asad Mahmood, and Abdul Jalil Jan.
