Amazon has pulled its AI-generated recap for the hit TV show Fallout after viewers pointed out multiple mistakes. The experimental feature, launched in November in the US for select Prime Original series, aimed to summarise shows with narration, dialogue, and music.
Viewers spotted mistakes in the Fallout season one AI recap, including a scene with The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) wrongly described as a “1950s flashback,” even though it occurs in 2077.
The AI recap aimed to help viewers prepare for Fallout’s next season on 17 December. However, the mistakes highlight the challenges of using AI to generate video summaries, joining a growing list of similar errors in generative AI content.
Earlier in 2025, Apple paused its AI notification summaries after repeated factual mistakes, and Google’s AI Overviews have also faced criticism for inaccuracies. Amazon has not specified when or if the Fallout recap will return.
