ISLAMABAD: Amna Baloch, a Grade-22 officer in Pakistan’s Foreign Service, was named the country’s foreign secretary and will start working in her new role on September 11.
Baloch is the Pakistani ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union at the moment.
On September 10, Muhammad Cyrus Sajjad Qazi, the Foreign Secretary at the moment, will retire. The News reports that Cyrus Sajjad has been appointed to the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
Baloch was Pakistan’s high commissioner in Malaysia before to accepting the position of ambassador to the EU.
After earning a master’s degree in history, Ambassador Baloch enlisted in the Pakistan Foreign Service in 1991.
