The hotel where the Cowboys stay during training camp in Oxnard, California, had a room catch fire on Tuesday, the team revealed. There are just two more practices before training camp breaks. Nobody was hurt.
Practice sessions continued unhindered while the fire was limited to a single room.
The hotel is conveniently located next to two of the Cowboys’ practice fields in Oxnard, which is why they have stayed there every year for training camp since 2012.
The Cowboys are entering a crucial 2024 season, and this was just the most recent issue they have had to deal with this offseason.
The Cowboys’ biggest offseason mystery has been the absence of standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is still not on the team’s active roster as he negotiates a new contract.

Lamb is now on the reserve/did not report list after the Cowboys cut him from their active roster. Due to his refusal to participate in the team’s required minicamp and optional exercises, Lamb is currently refusing to report to training camp, putting him at risk of fines of up to $40,000 per day for each practice missed. On his rookie contract, he has a fifth-year option that is due in 2024 for $17.9 million.
