8-year-old Grayson Naff is getting ready for life without vision.
The rare genetic disorder known as Batten disease, which results in visual loss, seizures, cognitive decline, decreased mobility, and eventually death, was identified as the source of the Ohio second-grader’s illness last year.
The youngster is receiving the required training to navigate the world without eyesight as the disease worsens and his vision continues to deteriorate. His mother, Emily Blackburn, as well as a number of educators and professionals, are supporting him in this endeavor.
