Authorities accuse Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, of Cochise County, of threatening to kill President Trump on social media over the course of the preceding two weeks.
On Thursday, while in Cochise County, Trump made a visit to the US-Mexico border.
A gunshot fired during an attempted assassination of Trump occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month. Trump sustained minor injuries.
Syrvud is also wanted, according to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, for not registering as a sexual offender.
He is wanted on many warrants out of Wisconsin and Arizona, including ones related to hit-and-run incidents and drunk driving.
He is from Benson, Arizona, which is roughly 50 miles (80 km) southeast of Tucson, according to the police.
The suspect was taken into custody inside the boundaries of Cochise County, the sheriff’s office announced in a post on Thursday afternoon.
The office wrote, “This subject has been taken into custody without incident.”
Trump visited the US-Mexico border on Thursday while he was in Cochise County.
In his speech, he attempted to hold Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris accountable for permitting undocumented immigrants to enter the country.
