At least 45 people are said to have died as a result of buildings in a neighborhood housing Palestinian refugees being set on fire, according to the health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas.
The impacted region is located less than 200 meters from the north site of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.
Satellite pictures and geolocated demonstrate that the hit leveled structures right next to an identification sign for Kuwaiti Al-Salam Camp 1.
Palestinians displaced by the current violence are known to be housed at Kuwait’s Al-Salam Camp 1, though it’s unclear if the buildings are a part of the camp.
Tents and shelters housing displaced individuals have been occupied in the vicinity during the most of the fighting. The quantity of these buildings has declined in recent weeks as Palestinians have left ahead of Israel’s planned ground invasion in Rafah.
News checked a number of footage and images taken by people in the area to create a picture of what transpired right after the strike.
The footage captured in the aftermath was linked to a daytime recording of the same site by a sign and other distinguishing factors.
