Hollywood and international cinema icon Antonio Banderas is set to be honored with the prestigious Stella della Mole Award at the Torino Film Festival (TFF). This lifetime achievement recognition will be presented during the festival’s opening ceremony on November 29 in Turin, Italy.
As part of the celebration, Banderas’ critically acclaimed 2019 drama “Pain and Glory” will also receive a special screening, highlighting his enduring collaboration with legendary director Pedro Almodóvar. In the film, Banderas plays a director inspired by Almodóvar, a performance that earned him accolades at Cannes and nominations for both the Oscars and Golden Globes.
Giulio Base, TFF’s artistic director, praised Banderas for his remarkable versatility, saying, “Antonio Banderas, shaped by Almodóvar’s creative vision, has conquered Hollywood while embodying the essence of a complete actor.” He added that Banderas remains both “a performer of dizzying depth and a global sex symbol of his generation.”
The 43rd Torino Film Festival will run from November 21 to 29, promising a star-studded celebration of cinema.
