KARACHI: Salman Iqbal Butt, the coach of Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem, has formally responded to the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), defending his position after the organization requested an explanation for the athlete’s lackluster showing at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
After the nation’s top javelin thrower missed out on the top eight competitors at the international competition, Butt reportedly penned a letter to answer the AFP’s question.
The coach informed the federation that he had been named mentor and coach for Nadeem in 2021. Since then, he noted, the great javelin thrower has won multiple international championships, including the gold medal at the Olympics in Paris, four golds, and one silver between 2022 and 2025.
