In the third set of his qualifying match against Harold Mayot on Monday, Arthur Cazaux was forced to quit due to a fall.
Mayot had taken the opening set 6-4, but Cazaux had won the second set 7-5 to even the score.
In the third set, Cazaux is 2-1 up and starts to position himself for his opponent to serve when he is caught on camera falling to the ground.
Wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt, Cazaux descends to his left and lands on his back in the footage.
Mayot, who can be seen in a different image posted on news going over to see how Cazaux is doing, came under fire on social media for his response.
After that, he posted on the news, saying, “Stop igniting a baseless debate.
“He hadn’t felt good for a few games and was beginning to have cramps.
“I believed he was lying down because he was experiencing a cramp, but I didn’t see him fall.
“When I understood that it was serious, I immediately went to him, and I was very worried.”
