ICC’s match referee Andy Pycroft has apologised to Pakistan cricket team captain Salman Ali Agha and management following handshake row after the India clash at Asia Cup 2025.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the development in a statement, stating that match referee Pycroft has expressed regret to the Pakistan cricket team’s manager and captain.
“Pycroft termed the September 14 incident a result of miscommunication and apologised,” it added, adding that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has stated its willingness to conduct an inquiry into the code of conduct infraction.
Following the referee’s apologies, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi called on the country to back the squad during a news conference.
