Early Life and Career
Quentin Griffiths, one of the original co-founders of fashion giant Asos, has passed away in Thailand. He co-founded the company in London with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan, and Deborah Thorpe. Asos started by selling clothes inspired by TV and film stars, which is how it got its name, “As Seen On Screen.” Over time, it grew into a major online fashion marketplace, offering hundreds of brands and its own lines, once valued at over £6 billion.
Circumstances of Death
Police in Pattaya found Griffiths dead outside a luxury hotel where he lived long-term on the 17th floor. Authorities said he had been under stress due to two ongoing court cases.
Company Statement
An Asos spokesperson said, “We are deeply saddened to hear about Quentin’s death. He played a vital role in Asos’s early days, and we are forever grateful for his contributions. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting the family and coordinating with local authorities regarding the case.
Legacy
Griffiths’s contributions helped shape Asos into one of the most recognized online fashion retailers globally. Its largest shareholders include Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, owner of Bestseller, and Mike Ashley of Frasers Group.
