According to reports, an Israeli airstrike on a UN school in central Gaza that was crowded with displaced Palestinians claimed the lives of at least 35 people.
Local journalists covered the story of two warplane missiles fired at the upper floor of the school in the urban Nuseirat refugee camp, aimed at classrooms. Videos displayed several bodies along with the devastation.
The Israeli military claimed to have killed several of the 20 to 30 fighters it thought to be inside the school when it “conducted a precise strike on a Hamas compound” there.
The Government Media Office in Gaza, run by Hamas, refuted the claim and charged Israel with conducting a “horrific massacre.”
The director of UNRWA, the organization that is in charge of the school, called the event “horrific.”.
\The adjoining town of Deir al-Balah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital, overrun since the Israeli military launched a fresh ground offensive against Hamas in central Gaza this week, received a flood of dead and injured persons.
