Pakistan is taking decisive action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told the UN on Wednesday. However, he cautioned that mounting debt is not a solution to the world’s issues.
At the Climate Summit 2025, the prime minister urged wealthier countries to consider more sustainable ways to support vulnerable states like Pakistan, saying that “debt, debt, and more debt is not a solution.”
“Pakistan is already living through the harsh reality of climate change.”
He said that in order to satisfy future demands without endangering the environment, the government was actively promoting green and renewable energy, supporting projects in solar, hydroelectric, and even nuclear power.
