NEW YORK: On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump demanded that the war in Gaza halt immediately.
“We must immediately end the war in Gaza,” the US president said while speaking to the 80th United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York City. We must start negotiating peace right away.
Despite strong opposition from Israel and its close ally, the United States, dozens of world leaders met at the UN to support a Palestinian state, marking a historic diplomatic shift.
Trump took Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position and opposed Palestinian statehood.
“The rewards would be too great for Hamas,” he stated, restating his demand that the Palestinian organization return the hostages it has captured.
