In the Qilla Abdullah district of Balochistan, an 18-month-old kid has been diagnosed with poliovirus, the provincial health department announced on Tuesday.
In 2024, this is the fifth case of poliovirus from Balochistan alone and the sixth from Pakistan overall. This year, Sindh was the source of one case report.
It was the Qilla Abdullah district’s second reported instance of this kind at the time.
In the past, Quetta, Chaman, and Dera Bugti were also reported to have cases of the virus.
The child, according to the parents, had a high grade fever on June 1, 2024, and on June 3, 2024, they had weakness in their right leg, according to the technical summary of the case.

According to the report, on June 8, 2024, the youngster was brought to nearby medical providers and informed at Al-Khair Private Hospital in Quetta. On June 9, the case was examined and given an urgent classification based on clinical findings.
“Aside from the OPV and BCG dose at birth (which still has a scar), the child has not had any OPV doses in SIAs or RI. The report said, “There is no history of any intramuscular injection in the last 24 hours prior to the onset of paralysis,” and it added that the youngster had no prior history of travel.
