Just days before international sanctions could be reinstated on his nation due to Tehran’s nuclear aspirations, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian assured the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday that his government has no plans to develop nuclear weapons.
“I hereby reaffirm in front of this assembly that Iran has never attempted to develop a nuclear weapon and would never do so. Pezeshkian declared, “We do not pursue nuclear weapons.”
He said, “We never sought weapons of mass destruction because this is our belief based on an edict issued by the Supreme Leader and religious authorities.”
The Iranian president accused Israel of upsetting regional peace and stability.
