Beabadoobee Pylon Brings a Heavier Sound
Pylon shows a clear change in Beabadoobee’s musical direction. Her earlier work often featured softer bedroom pop influences.
The new album takes a stronger rock approach. Its songs feature bigger arrangements, layered guitars, and a more intense atmosphere.
Beabadoobee also moves between different emotions throughout the record. Some songs focus on loneliness and heartbreak. Others explore anger, acceptance, and personal growth.
“Write Me A Letter” Leads the New Album
The album arrives with the new single “Write Me A Letter.” The track features a driving indie rock sound and was produced by Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975.
Beabadoobee says the song focuses on recognizing her own mistakes. She also explores feelings that she found difficult to express openly.
For the singer, writing the track became something she needed to do. It also became an important part of the wider story behind Pylon.
Album Songs Came From Life on the Road
Beabadoobee wrote much of Pylon while touring or between tour dates. Time away from home gave her space to think about changes in her life.
She describes the album as a reflection on letting go and accepting change. The songs also explore the complicated feeling of growing older while missing the past.
Tracks such as “Sun Has Set,” “Switchblade,” and “Memories” came from periods when she wrote alone in hotel rooms.
That process reminded her of writing songs at 17, when she often worked alone in her bedroom.
Pylon Features Major Alternative Rock Collaborations
The new record also includes several notable guest appearances.
The album features contributions from:
• Hayley Williams of Paramore
• Brendan Yates of Turnstile
• Evan Stephens Hall of Pinegrove
• Chino Moreno of Deftones
• Shane Moran of Title Fight
These collaborations highlight the growing range of Beabadoobee’s musical connections.
