Because “Nawaz becomes irrelevant in the country’s politics,” Abbas Afridi leaves the PML-N.

Days after the former prime minister made the decision to get “active” in the nation’s political affairs, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abbas Khan Afridi announced on Tuesday that he was leaving the ruling party, claiming that its leader Nawaz Sharif was no longer “relevant” in politics.

Following the general elections on February 8, the three-time former premier avoided taking on the executive position for a fourth time. According to reports, he is expected to get more involved in “national politics” on Monday.

Despite his return to the PML-N presidency last month, Afridi believed that Nawaz lacked a “executive post” and hence could not do much.

“Nawaz Sharif’s grievance with the nation was justified,” he stated, claiming that the party’s senior leadership “didn’t remain loyal” to the president.

Accompanying the list of PML-N deserters, Afridi also voiced concerns about not being informed regarding the military operation, Azm-e-Istehkam, which was proclaimed by the government to eradicate militancy from the nation due to an increase in terrorist attacks.

“Nobody wants to hear what we have to say. Nobody is here to listen to our strategy for economic rehabilitation,” he continued.

Later on, he resigned and sent his letter to the PML-N leadership.
