Single-use styrofoam goods will be prohibited in Abu Dhabi as of June 1, according to a joint announcement made on X by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
Cups, lids, plates, drink containers, and food receptacles intended for immediate consumption will all be prohibited.
Khaleej Times announced the plan to outlaw single-use Styrofoam complements the objectives of the Year of Sustainability and is an extension of the Abu Dhabi Single-Use Plastic Policy.
