West Ham has agreed to take winger Said Benrahma on loan from Lyon till the end of the current campaign.
The 28-year-old Algerian now has the final say over whether or not to buy for £15 million should the deal go through.
In October 2020, Benrahma moved from Brentford to West Ham, and his contract there is good until 2026.
However, throughout his three years with the Hammers, he has been a patchy performer.
He opened scoring from the penalty spot in West Ham’s historic 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final last season.
It was a contentious decision to leave him out of Algeria’s roster for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Pablo Fornals, a midfielder for Spain, was being bid for by Real Betis, but West Ham turned it down.
Considering that Fornals has only started four Premier League games this season, a second bid is anticipated, and West Ham is willing to let him leave.
