That evening’s two games start at 20:00 BST, with promoted Derby’s trip to Blackburn.
On Saturday, eight games begin at 12:30 BST. Among them is Leeds, the beaten play-off finalists, playing Portsmouth at home. There are no games at 15:00 BST.
On Sunday, August 11, New Plymouth’s manager Wayne Rooney leads his team to Sheffield Wednesday; the following day, Luton and Burnley, the two teams that were demoted, square off at Kenilworth Road.
As part of their new £935 million, five-year agreement with the EFL, Sports will broadcast live coverage of every match in the first round of all three divisions.
This means that on August 10, only League Two games will begin at 15:00 BST. On Saturday, League One games will begin at 17:30 BST.
Portsmouth won League One last season, ending a 12-year absence from the Championship.
Following their opening-day trip to Elland Road, they play at home against Luton, who had been relegated, the following weekend, and then travel to Middlesbrough, home of Michael Carrick, for their third league game of the season.
