A major police investigation is underway in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, after a body was discovered in Duffryn Park on Monday night around 22:10 BST. Officers secured the area soon after the discovery near a field close to the A467 junction.

Missing Girl Identified by Family
The victim had been reported missing earlier. She was last seen on High Street in Blaina at about 18:50 BST on Saturday, 20 June.
Although formal identification has not yet been completed, the girl’s family has been informed. Specialist officers are supporting them during this time.
Family members had earlier shared public appeals asking for her safe return and had organized local searches. One message from a relative urged her to come home, saying she would not be in trouble and only needed to reach safety.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas said officers are maintaining a strong presence in the area while enquiries continue. He confirmed that one suspect is in custody and being questioned.
Police have urged the public to share any relevant information directly with investigators rather than posting speculation online. Officers warned that unverified comments could affect the progress of the case.
A blue forensic tent has been placed inside the park about 100 meters from the cordoned area, suggesting a key focus point for evidence gathering. Additional patrols have been deployed across the town as the investigation continues.
Community Impact
Residents in Blaina have seen increased police activity, with officers patrolling in groups and securing multiple parts of Duffryn Park. The scene remains sealed as forensic teams continue their work.
