The Scottish actor, best known for his role as mafia boss John Thomas “Tommy” Hunter in the TV crime thriller, just joined the cast of Blood of My Blood, the prequel to Outlander.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian James McCardie, beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend to so many,” his sister wrote on the news, confirming his death.
“On Sunday, April 28, Brian suddenly passed away at home. Brian was a fantastic and ardent performer who impacted many lives both on stage and screen. He passed away far too soon.

She stated that information on the funeral will be released in the coming days.
