Actor Aneurin Barnard was in Annecy, France for a film festival event when he witnessed a handbag theft in the city centre. A thief reportedly grabbed a bag from an elderly woman in front of him and tried to escape.
The incident happened shortly before a scheduled film panel. It was not inside the festival venue.

Witnesses say Barnard immediately chased the suspect. He physically stopped the thief with a rugby style tackle and held him until police arrived.

Barnard then left the scene and returned to his professional duties shortly after, attending the festival panel as planned.
