Asim Iftikhar, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, criticized Israel’s strike on Qatar on Friday, calling it a breach of both the UN Charter and international law.
Iftikhar said the strike was a blow to international peace and security in addition to being an attack on a sovereign nation during the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) emergency meeting on the Middle East.
The ambassador said, “This rash and provocative attack is a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in violation of the fundamental principles of international law, including the UN Charter.”
