The long-rumoured split in the Beckham clan has been brought to the forefront of the media. Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is the oldest son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. He has released a long and detailed statement explaining his estrangement from them.
In an Instagram post of six pages, the 26-year-old said that he had been silent for many years and now wished to express himself. He said he doesn’t want reconciliation, and disputed claims his wife is controlling him.
What exactly did Brooklyn claim went wrong?
The Wedding Dress: Tensions before the Big Day
Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz were married in Palm Beach, Florida in Palm Beach in April of 2022. Media attention quickly focused on the wedding, particularly Nicola Peltz’s gown.
Brooklyn wrote in his blog that tensions began before the wedding. His mother Victoria Beckham cancelled the plans at the last minute to design Nicola’s dress. He said that this made Nicola find a new gown quickly.
Nicola wore a Valentino couture dress later, sparking rumors of a dispute. She denied the conflict at the time and said that Victoria’s Studio could not finish the dress in time. Brooklyn, too, dismissed those rumours at the time.

His mother allegedly interrupted the first dance he had with Nicola, and acted inappropriately before guests. Brooklyn claimed that the incident left him humiliated, and deeply uneasy.
He claimed that Victoria had called him “evil”, during an argument about wedding seating. Brooklyn said that the argument arose when the couple asked for their grandmothers to be seated at the head table.
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows
Brooklyn said that the experiences he and Nicola had last year prompted them to renew their vows. Nicola and her family attended the private ceremony, but not Beckham’s.
The couple wants to create new happy memories, not anxious ones. The renewal was a symbol of his emotional separation from his parents.
David Beckham’s birthday and a deepening divide
Brooklyn’s absence from David Beckham’s 50th Birthday celebrations made the rift more apparent. Brooklyn said he felt rejected when Nicola and he travelled to London.
His father said he only met him for a big public event. Brooklyn claimed that David had refused to meet Nicola, and then ignored him when they visited Los Angeles.

Brooklyn claimed in his statement that his family had put their image before relationships. Brooklyn claimed that public image and promotion were more important than family relationships.
