Under mounting pressure to address US tariffs on steel, autos, and other goods that are harming Canada’s economy, Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada made his second trip to the White House in five months on Tuesday.
Before entering the facility, Carney and US President Donald Trump exchanged brief but pleasant greetings and shook hands. According to their itinerary, they will meet in person and then have lunch. Sitting next to Carney in the Oval Office, Trump told reporters, “I liked him from the beginning, and we’ve had a good relationship.”
“Naturally, we have conflict. He said the two men will talk about tariffs. “We also have mutual love… you know we have great love for each other,” he continued.
