The opposition party quickly refuted the federal government’s accusations that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was politicizing the Bannu event and that party members were also present at the protest gathering.

“A political party [PTI] attempted to disrupt the nonviolent demonstration and attempted to demonstrate there,” Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of Information, stated in an interview with Geo News on Saturday.

Tarar’s remarks follow the deaths of civilians in a Bannu shooting incident and the injuries of other people during a demonstration against the deteriorating law and order.

The trader community called for the protest, and a full shutter-down strike was observed. The information minister recalled the protest’s casualties and fatalities, stating that numerous armed men participated in the demonstration and opened fire, killing citizens.

Tarar stated that Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, ought to have denounced the event, noting that his remarks implied that there had been open shooting during the demonstration.

A plot was conceived, and an effort was made to discredit the security services. The minister stated, “[They] are uploading images of children from another nation and saying that the people were killed by gunfire.”
