Singer Parts Ways With Agency
Chappell Roan has announced she is no longer represented by the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman. Her decision comes after Wasserman’s name appeared in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Roan said she has a responsibility to protect her team. She added that meaningful change in the music industry requires accountability. In her statement, she emphasized, “No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
Wasserman Faces Criticism
Wasserman’s emails to Ghislaine Maxwell, sent in 2003, were revealed among documents related to Epstein. While he has expressed deep regret over the messages, he stressed that he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein.
He also explained that his interactions with Maxwell occurred more than two decades ago, before her crimes came to light. Wasserman currently serves as chairman of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and has faced calls to step down following the controversy.
Other Artists Distance Themselves
Roan is not the only artist to separate from Wasserman’s agency. A self-described indie rock band said they were “aghast” to see his name in the files and wanted to distance themselves from the agency. Rock band Beach Bunny also expressed disappointment, saying they were “hugely disappointed and disgusted” by his involvement with Maxwell.
No Accusations Against Wasserman
It is important to note that Wasserman has not been accused of wrongdoing by any of Epstein’s victims. His appearance in the files does not imply criminal activity.
