Despite his mother’s conservatorship petition, Elijah Blue Allman, Cher’s son, asserted in court filings on Tuesday that he is “fully capable” of handling his own responsibilities.
Allman opposed Cher’s proposed court order in documents that Fox News Digital was able to obtain. He stated that he has abstained from using illegal substances since the first hearing earlier this month, which “have historically caused the incidents that have given rise to my mother’s concern.”
Elijah and Marieangela King, his divorced wife, are currently working toward a reconciliation. According to King’s own statement, Cher is “categorically unfit to serve as conservator” and that she “witnessed and experienced abusive behavior coming mostly from Elijah’s mother.”
In family conservation battles, Cher supports Britney Spears and Brian Wilson. Gregg Allman is the late musician’s son. In 1975, Cher wed Gregg Allman a few days after divorcing Sonny Bono.
Cher argued in the initial conservatorship application that “Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, Petitioner is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”
