Six American businesses have been subject to sanctions from China that prevent them from investing, exporting, or importing goods into the nation.
Despite continuous high-level discussions between US and Chinese officials to resolve disagreements over trade, technology, and security, the action was taken.
China’s Ministry of Commerce declared on Thursday that it had added six companies to its list of “unreliable entities.” Saronic Technologies, Inc., Aerkomm Inc., Oceaneering International, Inc., and Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc., one of the top shipbuilders in America, are among the sanctioned businesses.
The companies are not allowed to engage in trade or make new investments in China as a result of the restrictions. Beijing claimed that the action was required because China’s development interests and national security were in danger.
